Baja Officials Stand United with Baja Love Ride

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Baja Officials Stand United with Baja Love Ride

San Felipe, Baja California, March 17 - The Baja Love Ride is a 4-day “ride for cause” fundraising bicycling event that will stretch from Rosarito Beach to San Felipe and will also include admission to the 5th Annual San Felipe Blues & Arts Fiesta. The event is designed to showcase the best of Baja, illustrate public safety and simultaneously promote tourism. This event promises to not only bring the Baja communities together, but also benefit those facets of Baja society that need help the most, the children of Baja.

Baja California Secretary of Tourism, Juan Tintos Funcke and the state have all fully supported the idea of the event from its conception. This week, officials with the Baja California Secretary of Tourism office have committed themselves further to the success of the Baja Love Ride, by approving the participation of high ranking state tourism delegates. In addition to escorts by the Mexican Federal Police, Red Cross and Green Angels, state officials Hector Higuera Aguilar, Tourist Assistance Chief, State Secretariat of Tourism and Arturo Martinez Deputy Director of Visitor Assistance and Facilitation, State Secretariat of Tourism of Baja California and other delegates of the state will be joining the riders of the Baja Love Ride for the full 4 days to share in this unique and unforgettable Baja experience.

The ride will begin on Tuesday March 22, at 10AM in front of the Rosarito Beach Hotel and will finish Friday March 25, at 3PM at the Arches of San Felipe. All riders will receive complimentary tickets to the Blues and Arts Fiesta on Saturday March 26, another charitable event to help the children of Baja that also draws a huge crowd each year.

The promoters of this event want to encourage everyone that loves Baja, whether you own a bicycle or not, to be a part of this event in one way or another. You are encouraged to ride, volunteer or donate. Proceeds raised in each community will remain in each community to support the local children's organizations that desperately need continuous help. This is the time to stand up and be counted. Baja and its residents have been taking a hit from US media, which has led to an undeserved reputation of Baja being unsafe for tourist, an industry Baja relies heavily upon. Now is the time to help dispel reports that lead people to believe Baja is anything but safe, secure and a wonderful place to visit and live. Alongside the event promoters and the
Baja California Secretary of Tourism, we all need to stand together and show the world that Baja is a welcoming destination overflowing with people that care about their communities, their children and their country.

Taking part in the Baja Love Ride is bound to be a memorable experience for those looking to be involved in improving the lives of children and also looking to take in the beauty, serenity, hospitality and luxury Baja has to offer every step of the way. Helping others and pampering your senses at the same time is what the Baja Love Ride can give to riders, spectators and volunteers all along the route. Please join us.

ZAPP - BAJA LOVE RIDE Benefits Children in San Felipe (ENG)

This email is coming to you from Steven aka the "DOGMAN" of ZAPP in San Felipe BC Mexico. sent March, 10, 2011.

Several of my good friends here in San Felipe have created this amazing bicycle ride to benefit the children of Baja.

My personal interest in sending you this email, is to support CASA de FE Orphanage here in San Felipe; one of many beneficiaries of the ride's entire route. I'm doing what I can do to help fill the San Felipe portion of this event, which is Friday, March 25th, starting at the fountain at La Ventana del Mar, and ending at the Arches downtown, seven miles later. This leg of the ride is aptly called "GOOD START" and created to provide more children in San Felipe with the good start every child deserves in life.

CASA de FE is the creation of Bill & Carol Spradlin, and the event is being produced by John & Rachel Pack, great friends and supporters of ZAPP, and the publishers of BAJA CALIFORNIA MAGAZINE.

Especially if you are in San Felipe, and especially if you are like me, and will never sit on a bicycle seat again, you can support this seven mile leg of the ride by finding someone to ride in your place, which is what I have done, in order to have as many people participate as possible, so this becomes an annual event.

Your $25 donation will not only benefit CASA de FE Orphanage here in San Felipe, but will also give you access into the

5th Annual San Felipe Blues & Arts Fiesta, on Saturday, March 26th. If you sign up before the 14th of this month, you will also get a Baja Love Ride t-shirt.

Please support these committed friends of San Felipe's stray and indigent animals in this huge endeavor, and at the same time, help out the kids of San Felipe.

FOR MORE SPECIFIC INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT
the PRODUCERS of the RIDE at:

English: Biking to the Blues!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
---

The Baja Love Ride and 5th Annual International Blues and Arts Fiesta team up for the children of Baja.

San Felipe, Baja California, February 11, 2011 -  The Baja Love Ride “Ride for a Cause” charity bike ride will kick off in Rosarito Beach March 22 and wind 225 miles to beautiful San Felipe just in time for the kick off of the 5th Annual International Blues and Arts Fiesta.

All money raised from the event will go to children’s charities in the communities the riders pass through. For riders who find the 225 ride too much to handle, you can still participate by registering for the 5-7 mile “Good Start Rides” that will be held at the start of the Rosarito, and Ensenada legs and in San Felipe for the final 7 miles to the finish line.  You can also register for a single day “Bike and Camp”, which includes meals and overnight camping. The main event, the 225 mile ride, cost $200 for registration, the “Bike and Camp Ride” will cost $45 and the “Good Start Ride” will cost $25 for participants. All riders will receive a FREE ticket to the 5th Annual San Felipe International Blues and Arts Fiesta.

The Blues and Arts Fiesta, which is billed as an event that is “Changing Lives through Music and Art”, should help to keep participants of the Baja Love Ride motivated as they will be biking to the blues. March 26, 2011 will kick off the outdoor concert and extravaganza which also benefits Baja children. The wildly successful event brings folks from across the globe to the Sea of Cortez to hear some of the best blues music ever created by some of the world’s most renowned artists and groups. Because of the amount of money raised for charity by the Blues and Arts Fiesta, the organizers can attest that it truly is “Changing Lives through Music and Art.” The proceeds from both events will directly help provide a better future for the chiildren throughout the peninsula.

The returning musical guests are crowd favorites, like guitar legend Javier Batiz, blues roots gurus Chet & The Committee, the always fabulous Queen of Steam, Michele Lundeen, and the vastly entertaining Ruta 69 of Ensenada. New musical acts include the charismatic Afro-Cuban fusion group Libre, popular power band Mosk Trio, great eclectic blues rockers Deja Blues, and of course our inimitable local musical hosts, the super talented Agave Blues.

The San Felipe Lions Club has chosen to give free tickets to riders in the Baja Love Ride because they see these two events as a grand opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of the children of Baja. The San Felipe Lions Club, chartered in 2007, is the third largest in Mexico. They host the Blues and Arts Fiesta and they have seen it grow year after year. The fiesta is also promoted by the Baja Good Life Club, the promoters of the Baja Love Ride. The Baja Good Life Club is a travel and discount club that encompasses all of Baja. Membership comes with perks such as a monthly magazine, member card good for discounts on Mexican auto insurance, and discounts on events, dining, lodging and other activities. Engllish: Back to Original Route

February 11, 2011 - The Baja Love Ride will be using the originally released Baja California route from Rosarito Beach to San Felipe. The Federal Government informed the state this week that because of issues related to insurance and liability, the Baja Love Ride would not be able to use the Federal Toll Road from Playas de Tijuana to the northern Rosarito Beach exit.

It was suggested that the ride be rerouted to another location in Tijuana, possibly the Zona Rio, however the Ride Advisory Committee decided it made more sense to go back to the shortened route originally announced, which is the same route used for the Rosarito Ensenada Fun Ride, so logistically all authorities are familiar with the route and safety precautions.  Go to www.bajaloveride.com for all the correct information.

Baja charity bike ride delayed, shortened - SignOnSanDiego.com

TIJUANA — Organizers of a 1,000-mile, 16-day bike ride originally planned for next month down the Baja California peninsula have shortened their course and delayed the event until March.

The Baja Love Ride, promoted as a fundraiser for children's charities, is now scheduled from March 22nd to March 26th. The new route is 217 miles long, said John Pack, one of the organizers. The plan now is to start off from Monumental Plaza in Playas de Tijuana, pass through the Baja California communities of Rosarito Beach, La Mision, Ojos Negros and the Valle de La Trinidad, and end up up in San Felipe in time for the port’s Blues & Arts Fiesta.

Pack said one of the main reasons for the change in plans is the condition of the roads south of San Felipe, which has made it impossible for buses and other large event vehicles to get through. “We’ll just do a pre-run and next year will be the entire route,” Pack said.

The event is conceived as a fundraiser for orphanages and other children’s organization on the route. Promoters are also hoping that the event will deliver the message that traveling to Baja California can be safe.
